Sunday Spotlight: Monstrous Lovers on Indiegogo

5 / 2 / 165 / 2 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

Sunday Spotlight has turned out to be a great way to feature fundraising campaigns I wouldn’t have the chance to cover otherwise, so this week (despite it already being Monday in Australia) I’d like to turn your attention toward a BL visual novel on Indiegogo called Monstrous Lovers!

Monstrous Lovers BL visual novel Indiegogo

Monstrous Lovers is about a government employee whose job is to ensure the peaceful coexistence between monsters and humans, which of course leads to him falling in love with one of four different monster boys. The game will be made available in both English and Spanish and even include Spanish voiceovers, something you don’t see too often in indie visual novels!

Unfortunately, the Indiegogo campaign finished its initial fundraising period without reaching its goal, so the developers have opted to extend it so that this rad-looking game can get the funding it needs to be made. If you’re a fan of BL or romance visual novels, be sure head over to the Indiegogo page to check out the demo and help this game get over the finish line!

3 / 8 / 163 / 9 / 16

kyoukainoshirayuki-yellowillustration3

I’m finally back with some new translations! Featuring Gatchaman Crowds artist Kinako’s distinctive art and character designs, Kyoukai no Shirayuki is a dark twist on the tale of Snow White, where protagonist Mashiro Akagami finds herself entangled in the fates of eight young men and their twisted mirror world selves.

Today I’m going to be sharing translations of scenarios for three of the romance-able men, Kaine, Nazuki, and Yura, as well as winter outfits for all eight male characters, info on the four supporting characters, and the first installment in the Shuffle Talk dialogue series featuring Kaine and Yori.

For detailed plot information and main character bios, please head over my translations of the announcement trailer and the previous two B’s Log features, as this post will only cover information new to the January 2016 issue of B’s Log.

Japanese Horror-inspired Visual Novel The Letter Needs Funding!

11 / 16 / 1511 / 16 / 15

The other day, I was contacted by Filipino developer Yangyang Mobile to spread the word of their Kickstarter campaign, The Letter. When I heard it was a horror visual novel inspired by Japanese horror media such as Ju-On, I was immediately intrigued! As a big fan of visual novels, and an increasingly interested but easily spooked horror game newbie, The Letter has the workings of being a very promising first game for Yangyang.

The Letter Kickstarter Horror Visual Novel

The Letter is an interactive visual novel with horror themes told from the point of view of six different characters. The gruesome tale starts when a letter with the words “HELP ME” scrawled over it repeatedly is found in an abandoned mansion scheduled to go up for sale. You can download the demo from the Kickstarter page for Windows, Mac, and Linux to get a feel for the gameplay, which takes visual novel text-based choices a step further by introducing quick-time events to high-tension moments in the story. While I’m not generally a fan of quick-time events, they really do make the scary bits all the more nerve-wracking!

I’m getting a major Corpse Party vibe from The Letter, which is definitely a good thing in my book. At the time of this post, Yangyang Mobile still has a ways to go to reach their funding goal, so head over to their Kickstarter and have a look at the reward tiers if The Letter looks up your alley. Best of luck to them!
