Sunday Spotlight: Long Gone Days Indiegogo Campaign

7 / 24 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

In honor of JRPG July I wanted to take the opportunity to spotlight Long Gone Days, a dystopian Japanese-inspired RPG currently on Indiegogo. Currently in development for Windows, Mac, and Linux, Long Gone Days is billed as a character-driven RPG with visual novel elements, and it features gorgeous pixel art and anime-style illustrations!

Long Gone Days Indiegogo

One of the most interesting aspects of this war-themed RPG is the language barriers posed by encountering soldiers of different backgrounds, meaning you’ll need to use characters with interpreting skills to be able to understand certain conversations. How cool is that?!

To see the game in action, head to its Itch.io page to download the demo. If you decide to help Long Gone Days reach its funding goal, you can gain a digital copy of the game when it’s completed for just $12. However, this early bird special is only available to the first 200 backers, so don’t delay!

Swooning Over: Nōra and the Time Studio

7 / 2 / 167 / 2 / 16

Nora and the Time Studio DS game

In honor of the start of JRPG July, I thought it would be fun to do a feature on a cute little game that unfortunately never made it out of Japan, Nōra and the Time Studio: The Witch and the Misty Forest (Nōra to Toki no Kōbō: Kiri no Mori no Majo)! Developed by Atlus, Nōra and the Time Studio is completely separate from their flagship series Shin Megami Tensei and Persona, swapping demons for Atelier-like alchemy. But since I haven’t yet had a chance to play it, today I’m going to focus on swooning over the packaging of the game and premium booklet!

Sunday Spotlight: Monstrous Lovers on Indiegogo

5 / 2 / 165 / 2 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

Sunday Spotlight has turned out to be a great way to feature fundraising campaigns I wouldn’t have the chance to cover otherwise, so this week (despite it already being Monday in Australia) I’d like to turn your attention toward a BL visual novel on Indiegogo called Monstrous Lovers!

Monstrous Lovers BL visual novel Indiegogo

Monstrous Lovers is about a government employee whose job is to ensure the peaceful coexistence between monsters and humans, which of course leads to him falling in love with one of four different monster boys. The game will be made available in both English and Spanish and even include Spanish voiceovers, something you don’t see too often in indie visual novels!

Unfortunately, the Indiegogo campaign finished its initial fundraising period without reaching its goal, so the developers have opted to extend it so that this rad-looking game can get the funding it needs to be made. If you’re a fan of BL or romance visual novels, be sure head over to the Indiegogo page to check out the demo and help this game get over the finish line!

Swooning Over: Odin Sphere Leifthrasir Famitsu DX Edition

2 / 27 / 16

Swooning Over Odin Sphere Leifthrasir Famitsu DX Edition

Odin Sphere is one of the most gorgeous games I’ve ever played, so of course I was thrilled when I learned about Odin Sphere Leifthrasir‘s super special (and super exclusive) Famitsu DX Edition. So thrilled, in fact, that I paid about $110 for the game, art book, wall scroll, calendar, coasters, and mug, making it the most expensive video game limited edition I’ve ever purchased! Well, I finally received my copy this month, and I just had to share some photos…

Superbeat: Xonic North American DLC Release Schedule Announced

2 / 5 / 162 / 5 / 16

Guilty Gear Xrd Superbeat Xonic DLC

I seriously love rhythm games, so it should come as no surprise that I really enjoyed my time with Superbeat: Xonic for the PS Vita. If you were in the same boat, or are looking for more reasons to pick up this rad DJ Max-esque rhythm game, you’ll be as excited as I am to learn that the DLC release dates have finally been announced!

The first three Superbeat: Xonic DLC packs will launch for $3.99 each on North American PSN on February 23rd, with another three coming sometime in May. Each pack comes with four songs, including some Guilty Gear Xrd and BlazBlue tracks! If you’re like me and can’t get enough of these fighting game soundtracks, you’ll want to pick up the Guilty Gear x XONiC pack, which contains “Starry Story,” “Jack-A-Dandy,” and “Big Blast Sonic,” and the Magical Blaze Collection, which contains “BLUE desire~Blazblue” and two Magical Beat tracks, “THE BEAUTIFUL MAGIC~Magical Beat” and “MAGICAL GREETING~Magical Beat.”

Magical Beat Superbeat: Xonic DLC

The final DLC pack releasing on the 23rd contains “Antikithera – 7 Sequence,” “Rackin’ Gravity – 7 Sequence,” and “DINO – Cranky.” Meanwhile, the May DLC packs are as follows: Cranky’s Pick, containing “Danger & Danger,”Into the Unknown,” and “Conflict,” the Long Live Collection (not Love Live, sorry), which features “Timeline~Extended,” “All Night Long~Extended,” and “No Way Out~Extended.” The final DLC pack announced so far, Extra Collection, contains “TUNTUN-MOONLIGHT~Magical Beat,” “Libera Me,” and “Party 4U.”

Antikythera Superbeat: Xonic DLC

The nature of rhythm games makes them perfect for DLC, and $3.99 for a pack of three awesome tie-in songs sounds like a great deal! If you’re curious about Superbeat: Xonic, head over to my First Impressions piece for more information.

The first Community Game-Along theme of 2016 is the return of an old personal favorite, dating sims! For this month’s theme, any games where pursuing romance is an integral part of the experience are eligible. That means whether you want to play Dragon Age or Amnesia: Memories, it counts for the Game-Along!

If you’re new to Community Game-Alongs, simply play any game that fits the theme and share your experiences on your own blog, YouTube channel, social media, or wherever else you’d like to talk about it.
