May is upon us! For this month’s Community Game-Along, I wanted to highlight a composer, rather than a game genre or specific series. For May, that composer is Manami Matsumae! She’s famous for composing the iconic original Mega Man soundtrack, and she recently released a solo album titled Three Movements! Even if you don’t have time to participate by playing a game this month, be sure to give some of her awesome music a listen.
I’m excited to finally share a gameplay video of the first 20 minutes of PriPara All Idol Perfect Stage! for the Nintendo Switch. This is the latest PriPara idol rhythm game, and was selected as my April import game by my lovely Patreon members! Monster Hunter: World is a game I was not at all interested in when I first saw it. The initial reveal left me more than skeptical – I honestly wrote it off as an attempt to get a broader audience into the series that was going to be too much of a departure from what I loved about Monster Hunter to enjoy.
But after actually spending time with the game during the beta last December, I had a complete change of heart! Monster Hunter: World played exactly like the Monster Hunter I knew and loved, just with some tweaks that actually made it easier and more fun to play. That’s why, when the game finally came out for PS4 and Xbox One at the end of January, I was beyond excited to jump back into the world of Monster Hunter.

Now that the annual Monster Hunter Community Game-Along is behind us, it’s time for a brand-new Community Game-Along theme… Musou Games! Musou, or Warriors, games are hack and slash action titles developed by Omega Force and Koei/Koei Tecmo, starting with Dynasty Warriors back in 1997. Now, there are more Musou spinoffs than you can shake a stick at!
