Angelique: Tenkuu no Requiem Ruby Party Interview Translation

Angelique Tenkuu no Requiem Ruby Party Interview Translation

Otome games are steadily gaining popularity outside of Japan, with releases such as Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom, Code: Realize Guardian of Rebirth, and the breakout Korean hit Mystic Messenger making waves over the past couple years. However, not much is known about Ruby Party, the female-led development team at Koei Tecmo behind the Angelique series, which is widely regarded as the start of the otome game genre. In what hopefully will become a larger series, I’ll be translating interviews and other information on Ruby Party to help spread knowledge of this influential team!

Kyoukai no Shirayuki Scenario and Supporting Character Bio Translations

3 / 8 / 163 / 9 / 16

kyoukainoshirayuki-yellowillustration3

I’m finally back with some new translations! Featuring Gatchaman Crowds artist Kinako’s distinctive art and character designs, Kyoukai no Shirayuki is a dark twist on the tale of Snow White, where protagonist Mashiro Akagami finds herself entangled in the fates of eight young men and their twisted mirror world selves.

Today I’m going to be sharing translations of scenarios for three of the romance-able men, Kaine, Nazuki, and Yura, as well as winter outfits for all eight male characters, info on the four supporting characters, and the first installment in the Shuffle Talk dialogue series featuring Kaine and Yori.

For detailed plot information and main character bios, please head over my translations of the announcement trailer and the previous two B’s Log features, as this post will only cover information new to the January 2016 issue of B’s Log.

Who is Your Matsu Match?! Osomatsu-san Character Quiz Translation

1 / 27 / 161 / 31 / 16

Osomatsu-san brothers

I’m sure I wasn’t the only person who was floored when otome game publisher Otomate announced they would be making a game adaptation of the popular Osomatsu-san anime. Whether or not the actual game will be a full-fledged otome game that lets you date each of the brothers, it’s undeniable that the series has amassed a huge female fanbase!

In acknowledgement of this, the latest issue of Dengeki Girl’s Style, a magazine dedicated to otome games and related media, has a whole four page article dedicated to the Osomatsu-san anime. In it is an amazing Matsu flowchart reminiscent of teen magazines that I thought was too fun not to share:

Surprised Otomate is making an Osomatsu-san game? Dengeki Girl’s Style has a quiz to find your Matsu match XD pic.twitter.com/BSnK6hoZnJ

— Anne Fujosushi Lee (@apricotsushi) January 26, 2016

Since some folks were interested to know what the chart says, I’ve gone ahead and made a translated version! So, who’s your Matsu love match?

Feel free to share, but please make sure to credit Chic Pixel! If you haven’t yet watched Osomatsu-san, be sure to check out the hilarious anime at Crunchyroll. If you enjoyed this translation, support Chic Pixel by purchasing your favorite Osomatsu-san merchandise at CDJapan!

Kyoukai no Shirayuki Character Profiles and Comments Translated

9 / 24 / 153 / 8 / 16

shirayukiscan1

I’ve been beside myself waiting for new information on Kinako’s otome game, Kyoukai no Shirayuki, ever since it was announced last month. The dark fantasy otome game features Kinako’s striking illustrations and has an intriguing Snow White motif… coupled with a large number of prominently-displayed pomegranates. After a long month’s wait, new information on the characters and plot has been unveiled in the latest issue of B’s Log, which I’ll be going over in detail in this post. Let’s see what’s in store in the dark world of Kyoukai no Shirayuki…

Translation: Style Savvy x Animal Crossing (Lucinda’s Blog)

11 / 9 / 124 / 18 / 15

I don’t do a whole lot of translations on this blog, but with my mounting Animal Crossing: New Leaf excitement leaving me checking my FedEx package status every five minutes (more on that in a future post), I figured I could use something to take my mind off things. Plus, this isn’t just any translation, but a translation of the most recent post at Lucinda’s Blog, the official blog for the Japanese version of Style Savvy: Trendsetters (known as Wagamama Fashion: Girl’s Mode in Japan). And this isn’t any post, but a post all about the new Animal Crossing: New Leaf crossover! They’ve gone about promoting it in a pretty interesting way, so I definitely suggest giving it a read through if you’re into either of those games. So, without further ado, I present to you the full blog post in its translation:

Shop Manager Asks

11/7/12

Have you heard?

The Animal Crossing brand will be coming to our town tomorrow.

In honor of the Animal Crossing brand’s launch, I thought I’d talk to Gracie, the gifted designer from Animal Crossing: New Leaf, who designed the items.

I guess you could call it “Shop Manager Asks”!

Miki
Gracie! Thanks for coming today. I look forward to talking with you♪

Gracie
And I you.

Miki
Let’s get right to it. Your brand in Animal Crossing is called GracieGrace. What is its concept?

Gracie
GracieGrace is all about providing a high-end lifestyle! You can’t have refined fashion without a refined lifestyle. That’s why my brand covers everything from clothing and accessories to interior design.

Miki
That’s wonderful! So, what made you decide to design fashion items for our town?

Gracie
I’m a designer who travels all over the world. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a forest or a town, as long as there’s someone there to love my products, I’m happy.

Miki
I see. Well the people of this town certainly know all about fashion! I’m sure they’ll love GracieGrace~

Gracie
Recently I heard that your town was gaining recognition for trending in fashion. Seeing the town for myself today, I realized the rumors were true. I’m confident everyone will wear GracieGrace brilliantly!

Miki
Thank you very much♪ I also tried on your samples. I really feel like it’s such a charming brand, and it totally gives new options for coordinates! Now if you don’t mind, let’s get straight to introducing your new items♪

Gracie
Of course. Take a look at this!

Miki
There are items in here that reflect your own fashion, aren’t there, Gracie?

Gracie
That’s right. Since this is the debut of GracieGrace, I wanted to design a new line that could be regarded as a flagship of the brand. The sunglasses and dress may look psychedelic at a glance, but they’d be outstanding in both a high-class or more cool coordinate. There’s no doubt they’d be sure to make a statement as an accent, as well! The bag and hat can also be pared with more effeminate coordinates.

Miki
So you can enjoy them as a complete outfit, or pair the individual items with different coordinates for a wide variety of impressions! The boots are also lovely.

Gracie
Oh, my… You have fine taste! The boots are the part of this lineup I have the most confidence in. They’re lovingly crafted, right down to the charms on the back. I kept everything both high-class and easy to use, so I hope everyone will try them with different outfits.

Miki
After talking with you, I feel like I want to try all kinds of different things♪ Do you have any final words for our village?

Gracie

I’m not usually one to give praise, but I was touched by the abundance of fashion brands, items, and fashionable people in this town. I’d love if everyone of the town could enjoy high-class fashion with GracieGrace.

Miki
Thanks for your time, Gracie♪

All I want for Christmas is for you to buy my manga

12 / 19 / 114 / 18 / 15

Hello hello! I’m writing from my snazzy new apartment while sitting in my snazzy new sofa… Everything is so snazzy! We were finally able to put up our holiday decorations (including a mini fake IKEA tree), so I’m finally able to get in a festive mood.

That aside, I’d like to take the opportunity to announce my very first published manga translation! Tweeting Love Birds is a boys’ love manga about a guy who loves baseball… It was a bit of a pain to translate, considering I don’t know baseball terminology in English, let alone Japanese, but it was still a blast to do! And the story isn’t so centered around the sport that people who aren’t interested in it (like me) can’t enjoy it. It’s quite funny! I’m not nearly so eloquent, so here’s the summary my awesome editor whipped up:

“Ohtaka is pissed! University baseball is not what he expected, and it’s all because of Tweetie, the odd little person who blithely chirps and constantly circles in his tall shadow. Everything Tweetie does only deepens Ohtaka’s scowl. His irritation skyrockets when Tweetie demands Ohtaka stay in the baseball club for his sake and steals Ohtaka’s first kiss!

When two people from Tweetie’s past are thrown in Ohtaka’s face, his agitation suddenly turns territorial–and he’s not sure why…

Will Ohtaka figure out this unfamiliar game that plays for keeps? Get ready for a fast pitch of romantic comedy and surprising love in Tweeting Love Birds!”

If you’re at all interested, you can check out a sample of the Kindle version over at Amazon. Even if you don’t have a Kindle, I believe you can download the Kindle reader and read it right on your PC/Mac! And if you’re so inclined, I would love love love it if you could support me and my group (Twitter @BLBangBang). If you’re more of a Nook kind of person, it’s available for that over here!
Of course if you do decide to purchase said manga, please let me know what you think! And tell me that you bought it so I can shower you with lots of love. If you’re at all on the fence about starting a new series, don’t worry, the story ends at volume 2. After my current project I’ll be jumping right in to volume 2, so you should expect to see that out in the next couple of months!
In other news, one of my very favorite craft bloggers, an Aussie lady currently living in Japan known as Hello Sandwich, is in a gift wrap challenge over at the Martha Stewart blog! Wow! If you could be so kind and head over here to vote for her, that’d be great! She really deserves to win; she has such great style sense and her projects are both simple and a lot of fun. Thanks! Be sure to check out her blog if you’re into crafty things, too!

Chie Shinkyu's 72-Year-Old Mikako is an episodic light comedy manga about an older woman living on her own and writing a diary in the form of DMs to her deceased husband. This may sound sad, but Mikako is always on the move, and her life is full of joy and friendship. (1/2)

Uh, no thank you?? 😝❌ But actually, Taiga is Uh, no thank you?? 😝❌ But actually, Taiga is definitely one of my fav characters in Variable Barricade! It’s such a fun game if you’re looking for a goofy romantic comedy with generally low stakes (though I might suggest skipping the true end all together… more on that in my review, coming soon!) ⭐️⭐️ Tune in for the Variable Barricade stream on @aksysgames Twitch tomorrow 3pm PT (Thursday US time, Friday 10am Sydney time) for their launch stream! I’ll be there along with @blerdyotome and some other very cool folks!
