Chic Pixel Anniversary Giveaway

Chic Pixel Anniversary Giveaway

Can you believe it’s been five years since I first started Chic Pixel? I certainly can’t! It’s been a long road, but also an extremely fun one, and I’m so grateful for everyone who visits the site. To give a little something up, I’ve teamed up with the awesome folks at OyatsuBox to offer one premium Japanese snack box to one lucky reader!

OyatsuBox was the first Japanese snack subscription box I reviewed back in March 2014, and despite reviewing many similar services since, it’s still my favorite! To be in the running to win one of their premium boxes, which contains 10-14 full-sized Japanese snacks and gachapon, just enter via the widget below before January 23rd at 11:59 pm Pacific Time. The giveaway is open worldwide, so don’t miss out on your chance to win!

Sunday Spotlight: Sami Spoon

1 / 17 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

I’m super excited for this week’s Sunday Spotlight, because today I’m talking about a good pal Sami Spoon! Sami is a blogger from the UK who loves all the same things I do, but most importantly, she has excellent taste in video games and all things kawaii! Sami recently launched a new personal blog to catalog all her interests, so if you like Chic Pixel, I highly recommend checking it out!

Pokemon 2016 new year charm

I especially like her recent loot post where she shared a bunch of limited edition New Year PokéCenter goods such as the adorable charms above. Her photos all have her signature rounded corners, which makes them extra cute, don’t you think?

You can also find Sami on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, as well as her fun video game-themed Tumblr. Be sure to tell her I sent you!

Code: Realize and Norn9 Dating Sim Giveaway

To celebrate the Dating Sim Community Game-Along this January, I’ve teamed up with Aksys Games to offer not one, but two awesome otome games to one lucky winner! For a chance to win digital PS Vita copies of both Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ and Norn9: Var Commons, enter using the widget below by midnight, January 20th Pacific Time. Entering is easy, and you can exponentially increase your chances the more actions you complete, so go crazy!

Code: Realize is a romance visual novel set in a steampunk version of England, where protagonist Cardia is desperate to uncover the secret behind a mysterious disease that rots anything she touches. It also happens to be my favorite otome game of 2015! Norn9, on the other hand, is a sci-fi romance featuring three different protagonists and a whopping 9 romance-able characters. Be sure to check out the anime adaptation currently airing in Japan and simulcasting on Hulu!

Giveaway is open worldwide, and the winner will have their choice of NA or EU PSN codes. Update: I have been notified that some people are abusing the referral link option by not notifying people that they are entering the giveaway via a referral. Referral links must be shared through the social media/email options within the widget or clearly state that they are referral links. Any extra entries gained through referrals by other means will be disqualified.

Sunday Spotlight: LittleSaika

1 / 10 / 161 / 10 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

This week’s Sunday Spotlight features LittleSaika, a Youtuber who inspired me to start doing Nendoroid unboxing videos! Her sweet voice and adorable backdrops make her videos extremely soothing to watch, so if you’re a fan of Nendoroids, polymer clay crafts, or general cute stuff from Japan, I highly recommend checking out her channel.

I have to admit, one of my favorite pastimes is watching unboxing videos of Nendoroids I’ve been tempted to buy but decided against for the sake of my wallet… The harvest moon Hatsune Miku above is one such Nendoroid, it and happens to be pretty rare, so it’s awesome to see LittleSaika show it off up close!

LittleSaika is also on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, so if you like her videos, be sure to check her out elsewhere! She’s also currently holding a 5,000 subscribers giveaway that closes on January 15th, so head here if you’d like to enter.

Doki Doki Crate Subscription Box Review

Japan Crate was kind enough to send me their very first Doki Doki Crate, a new subscription service for fans of all things cute! I was extremely impressed with their Japanese candy subscription box when I reviewed it back in September, so I was very excited to see how this kawaii box compared. Let’s take a look!

Chic Pixel’s Favorite Anime Openings of 2015

Chic Pixel's Favorite Anime Openings of 2015

Many times, my first impression of an anime comes from its opening. They’ve had such an impact on me that at least half of my music library consists of anime opening themes! An opening isn’t just about the music, though: for it to really succeed, it must pair the song with evocative animated sequences that get you excited to watch the upcoming episode. A really good opening has you glued to the screen for the whole duration, and that’s exactly how I felt about the following five anime openings from 2015:

Sunday Spotlight: natsukigirl

1 / 3 / 161 / 3 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

Happy new year and welcome to the first Sunday Spotlight of 2016! This week I wanted to highlight an internet friend who is very inspirational to me (and I am secretly hoping to channel more in 2016). Natsukigirl always posts colorful photos of their Japanese games, toys, manga collection, and all-around cute stuff, and I seriously can’t get enough of it! They can be found in a variety of places on the internet (that I’ll link to at the end of this post), but for their photography, I highly recommend their Instagram for tons of cute stuff like this:

Natsukigirl Instagram

In addition, if you’re a fan of Yokai Watch, they make all kinds of content for Watch of Yokai, a Yokai Watch fan site. I admit I haven’t been bitten by the yokai bug yet, but natsukigirl’s merchandise photos are always super cute!

You can also find natsukigirl on Twitter, Tumblr, and their personal site, in addition to Instagram. Just don’t blame me if you suddenly develop an interest in cute Japanese dolls and Yokai Watch medals!
