It’s time to review yet another JAST Blue boys’ love (BL) visual novel localization! After being thoroughly engrossed by Sweet Pool (there are still scenes that remain vivid in my mind a year later), I couldn’t wait to see what Nitro+chiral’s first release, Togainu no Chi ~Lost Blood~ had in store for me. I soon found out that that would be another bleak narrative with a solemn protagonist and serve of Fight Club, post-apocalyptic Tokyo, and drugs added to the mix.
Back when Animal Crossing: New Leaf had just come out in Japan, I made it my hobby to browse Pixiv and other sites looking for adorable QR code designs to deck out my villager and town. Now that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out and is compatible with New Leaf QR codes, I think it’s definitely time to reshare some of my favorites!
Plus, sites like Twitter and Tumblr have made finding and sharing custom designs easier than ever, which means I already have a small stockpile of adorable creator codes for cute designs made in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
So, whether you’re looking to make your town into a sugary-sweet kawaii paradise, get that chic cafe vibe, or level up your geeky flair, here’s a roundup of all my favorite QR codes from Animal Crossing: New Leaf and creator codes from Animal Crossing: New Horizons!
The Nintendo Switch is region free, which means it’s easier than ever to play Japanese games to help with your language study! But while importing the games may be easy, deciding what titles are best-suited to aid your language learning can be hard. To help you out, I’ve compiled a list of the best Japan-only Nintendo Switch game releases for Japanese learners!
Not all conductors who work who go on tour with famous singers such as Weird Al Yankovitch see video game music as something worthy of performing in concert halls, but Eric Roth certainly does. After working with his father, Arnie Roth, on the Distant Worlds: Music from FINAL FANTASY, Eric started A New World: Intimate Music from FINAL FANTASY, a chamber ensemble concert production, in 2014, and currently works as the producer and conductor.
While Distant Worlds focuses on grand, epic renditions of classic Final Fantasy music for a symphonic orchestra, as the title suggests, A New World takes on a much more intimate approach, offering its own unique take on the Final Fantasy music we know and love.
As a big fan of Final Fantasy music since Final Fantasy VII wowed me in the late 90s, I was thrilled to have the chance to speak with Eric about how A New World came to be, the process of translating Final Fantasy music into a chamber concert format, Eric’s personal favorite song from the program, and more!
As we inch closer and closer to January 1st, 2020, everyone is not only reflecting on the last year, but the whole decade. Instead of rounding up my favorite games, anime, or other media, I thought now would be a great time to look at how my tastes and interests here at Chic Pixel have changed. After all, a lot can happen in 10 years!
