Hobonichi Flip Through Video: April 2017

6 / 5 / 176 / 5 / 17

Each month I’ve been trying my best to upload a new Hobonichi Techo flip through, and even though I’ve fallen a little behind, I’ve finally posted my April video! If you like cute stationery, journaling, or just want to see how I fill out my daily Hobonichi Techo pages, please give it a watch!

I knew keeping up with daily journaling would get more and more difficult as I neared the end of my thesis, but what’s surprised me is that I do use it daily, I just don’t always have time to gussy up the pages. Writing down my daily tasks in my Hobonichi Techo the night before has totally become a part of my routine, and I always look forward to carving out some time (usually on weekends) to dedicate to cutting up cute pictures, adding stickers, or drawing on the pages!

If you’re looking for a form of stress relief that doesn’t involve staring at a screen (honestly, we could all use a little less screen time these days), I highly recommend trying out some kind of journaling! Hopefully I’ll have my May flip through ready to share sometime soon!

Chic Pixel Picks TeePublic Curator Store

If you’ve been following Chic Pixel for a while, you know I love all things cute and nerdy. It’s pretty much one of my life goals at this point to surround myself with as many things that fit into those categories as possible! I also feel it’s really important to support independent artists who create awesome, unique products, so I’m always on the lookout for cool new creators on the internet. That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve teamed up with TeePublic to offer a curated storefront featuring all my favorite designs from artists such as miski, Paulina Ganucheau, and more!

Tokyo Gacha World Review

Tokyo Gacha World Subscription Box Review Chic Pixel

These days, you can buy almost anything from Japan your heart desires online, but there’s one kind of item that’s always been particularly hard to find: Gachapon! Because gachapon toys are generally only sold through machines that spit out a random capsule toy, living outside of Japan means you miss out of the surprise of putting a few hundred yen into a machine, turning the knob, and waiting with baited breath to see what comes out… But with Tokyo Gacha World, a subscription box dedicated to gachapon, you can experience the delight of receiving random gachapon every month!

Chic Pixel's Favorite Black Friday and Holiday Sales

The holiday shopping madness is now in full swing! Luckily, it’s easy to get in on some great deals without having to manage high-tension shopping crowds, or, if you’re like me, live in a country that doesn’t really do the whole Black Friday/Cyber Monday thing. With so many good deals flying around, I’ve decided to round up my favorites to share! From cute, nerdy apparel and accessories to discount games and figures, there’s more than enough here to get your holiday shopping out of the way or treat yourself for being awesome!

Teddy Together Review

Teddy Together Review Chic Pixel

When an English version of Teddy Together was announced earlier this year, I was completely shocked. After the Japanese version came out way back in June 2013, there was not a peep of a localization. All of a sudden, Europe and Australia would be getting the teddy bear simulator fully voiced in English only a few months after the initial localization announcement! While I was initially a little skeptical of the whole premise due to being slightly creeped out by the talking bear character, after spending time with the actual game, I can say it’s actually really cute!

Yume Twins Kawaii Subscription Box Review

Yume Twins kawaii subscription box review

Now here’s a review I’m really excited for! Well, it’s always great to check out something new, but I’ve been especially eager to try Yume Twins ever since the new kawaii subscription box service was launched earlier this year by the folks behind Tokyo Treat. So far, I’ve only tried one kawaii subscription service, Doki Doki Crate, and I was left rather disappointed by the number of low quality bootleg items it contained (though I hear they have improved greatly since). I got my Yume Twins order in just in time for the September box, which had the theme “new lifestyle.” Let’s see what’s inside!

Sunday Spotlight: Ms. Visual Grammar

7 / 10 / 16

Sunday Spotlight Chic Pixel

Despite only being a little over a month old, Linda’s Ms. Visual Grammar blog has already rocketed to the top of my favorites! She has a great eye for all things cute and nerdy, and a slightly larger focus on makeup and fashion than you’ll find here at Chic Pixel. I just can’t get enough!

Ms. Visual Grammar Reese cosplay
Linda aka Ms. Visual Grammar as Reese from Animal Crossing! It’s her first cosplay, and she knocked it out of the park!

Linda covers everything from conventions and cosplay to cute figures and awesome illustrators, so if you’re a fan of Chic Pixel or any of the things mentioned, I highly recommend her site! I especially love her weekly Fashion Friday series; Linda has a great sense of style, and I’ve already gotten a few ideas for my own wardrobe from her posts!

If you enjoy Ms. Visual Grammar, be sure to also follow her on Instagram. Her photos always brighten my day!
