Though we’re in the midst of the Monster Hunter Community Game-Along (don’t forget to join me for one of my Monster Hunter: World multiplayer sessions!), it’s time to take a look at all the awesome games people played for February’s Dating Sim Community Game-Along! I was really thrilled to see so many folks participate one of my favorite themes. Feel free to use this post as inspiration for selecting your next dating sim game to play!

February 2018 Community Game-Along: Dating Sim Games
February completely snuck up on me this year, and so did one of my favorite Community Game-Along themes! “Dating sims” is always a bit of a funny term to use, because it really refers to romance games with simulation elements, such as Angelique. But since it’s also often used interchangeably to mean any romantic/dating type game, I figure it’s a good umbrella term to encompass all the types of games I wanted to include in this theme.
Tokyo Video Game Haul!
For the second post in my 2017 Japan Trip series, I’m sharing my video game haul! I mostly wanted to get this one out of the way so I could open up all my games and start playing them… Such is the way of the blogger! If you’re eager to see more posts about where I went in Japan, don’t worry, more will be coming soon.
In total, I picked up 18 games while I was in Tokyo, and the vast majority are otome games. Like my previous Tokyo DisneySea post, I’ve made a video in addition to my usual photos and text for folks who like to watch haul videos. Check it out below!

In addition, Aksys named a release date for one of their previous otome game announcements, Bad Apple Wars, which will be launching in North America on September 29th in both regular and limited editions.

Chic Pixel’s Ultimate Guide to Blogging Part 1: Getting Started
Welcome to the first part in my new series for February, Chic Pixel’s Ultimate Guide to Blogging! I’ve been blogging under the Chic Pixel name for 6 years now. Hopefully, by sharing the things I’ve learned during that time, I can help those of you looking to start your own blog or get more out of the one you currently have!
This week’s post is focused more on starting up a new blog, but if you already have one and are looking to narrow your content and audience, I highly suggest skipping to the “Finding Your Niche” section. If you have any questions about the topics I cover in this post, feel free to drop me a comment and I’ll be happy to chat! Topics such as figuring out what to write about, motivation, social media, and monetization will be covered in following weeks, so don’t forget to check back every Tuesday!
Chic Pixel’s 2016 Favorites
I think we can all agree 2016 was more than a bit of a doozy, but for now we can take some time to reflect on the good times we had throughout the year. As I was compiling this list, I realized that though I may not have consumed as much media in 2016 as I have in years past, the things I did read, watch, and play were all pretty memorable.
Perhaps I’m getting better at spending my free time on things I enjoy, rather than wasting it on things I don’t?! If I have any goals for 2017, it’s to keep that as my mantra and dump anything I’m not thoroughly enjoying – it’s just not worth the time! But for now, I encourage you to read on to see what I enjoyed most in 2016, and share your favorites in the comments!
