I fully accept responsibility for being a little late on this one, but better late than never when it comes to exciting new otome game localization announcements! To my complete and utter surprise, Hyakka Hyakurou: Sengoku Ninpouchou, an otome game released for the PS Vita in Japan this past February, will be getting an English release! It will be published by D3 Publisher and Red Entertainment as Nightshade for Steam, so that unfortunately means no PS Vita version, but it’s awesome none the less!
After missing a month due to a mini-break at the beginning of October, the Chic Pixel monthly favorites feature is back! For October, I’ll be including anything noteworthy from September that I didn’t get a chance to cover already, so this month should be extra packed. Plus, it was Halloween, one of my favorite holidays! It goes without saying that I got my spook on… Well, mostly through my attempts to collect the festive skins in Overwatch.
Chic Pixel reaches a momentous 50 episodes, and to celebrate the occasion, we do what we do best: talk anime, video games, Japanese lifestyle, and more! Sarah recaps her exciting firsthand experience at Tokyo Game Show 2016 while Anne binge-watches Mob Psycho 100 back in Brisbane. Then, we discuss the hot new Capcom otome game Toraware no Paruma, and Sarah’s apartment journey finally gets a happy ending. Please note this episode was recorded at the end of September, so some of our news discussion may be slightly outdated. Sorry for the delay!

After my first experience using Tenso to forward packages from Japan to Australia a year ago, my buying habits have drastically changed. No more pining away for products that can’t be shipped overseas – now I can order them and have them shipped to me for a reasonable fee with Tenso! I say “reasonable” because if you’re not careful, the cost can shoot up very quickly… But after forwarding a few packages, I think I have a pretty good handle on how to make the most of it. Today I’ll be sharing my most recent haul as well as some tips on using Tenso I’ve learned along the way!
In episode 44 of Chic Pixel Plus, it’s a Persona 5 party! Plus, we muse about Nintendo and get stars in our eyes at the thought of seeing Utada Hikaru in concert. Finally, we see what anime some of our listeners have been watching, Anne provides a slightly different take on Bungo Stray Dogs, and Sarah shares her latest trip to Akihabara!

I am always blown alway by people who take the time to meticulously scan, edit, and upload images from their collection to share with the world. I’ve already featured a Pokémon goods scanner and a retro Japanese magazine scanner… But Flowermiko stands out for sharing scans of all of my favorite kinds of Japanese media, from anime such as CardCaptor Sakura of otome game images!
Flowermiko’s scanning blog, The Cherry Blossom’s Image Emporium, is chock full of gorgeous images such a new CardCaptor Sakura lottery prize illustration, a rare Snow Miku clear file, a gorgeous Code: Realize wall scroll, and more! If you’re a fan of any of these things, you absolutely must check out her scans!
Not only that, but Flowermiko has recently published a very helpful guide on how to edit and clean up images in Photoshop. I hope this encourages more collectors to scan and share their own merchandise! I’m definitely eager to try it out with some of my things…
This week’s Sunday Spotlight is a little late for those of you on my side of the world, but luckily my internet came through just in time to get it in while it’s still Sunday somewhere! Today I’d like to share another adorable blog that you’re sure to enjoy if you frequent Chic Pixel. Nozomi has been blogging in Spanish about anime, manga, figures, and more over at Fangirl Ninja for 4 years, and she has just launched Hobby Luv as a companion site for her English speaking friends, making it a great recommendation for Chic Pixel readers!
While I highly recommend browsing through Fangirl Ninja with the help of Google Translate due to the sheer amount of posts Nozomi has published over the past 4 years, Hobby Luv is already off to a great start. There’s a neat look at Backstage Pass for the Dating Sim Community Game-Along, which includes some updated impressions after Nozomi played the game multiple times through. It’s not often people write about how their experiences with media change over time, but it’s always so interesting to read!
