After picking up a Nintendo Switch last July, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the right Japanese game to be my first import purchase for the system. Since the Switch is region free, that means it’s much easier (and cheaper!) than importing things for the Nintendo 3DS. When I heard San-X’s adorable Sumikko Gurashi characters would be getting a Switch game, titled Sumikko Gurashi: Sumikko Park e Youkoso, I knew that I’d have to pick it up!

The Animal Crossing Ichiban Kuji is coming out in Japan on March 17th, and the prizes are drop-dead adorable! It’s a great excuse to bring back my Japan Envy series! Let’s take a closer look at the prizes you can win, and at the end I’ll share ways for you to purchase these awesome items for yourself!
Chic Pixel’s Best of 2017
Oh, 2017! I don’t think I’m the only one who was ready for 2017 to be over come December 31st. At the same time, there were a couple of really great things that happened to me in 2017! In lieu of separate favorite games/anime/whatever of 2017 posts, I’ve decided to round up all my favorites into an all-encompassing Best of 2017 post. I’ll share my favorite media of the year, but also some personal milestones, favorite products, and blog posts. I know it’s a little late, but I hope you enjoy it all the same!
Soul Piece Labs Review (with Fukubukuro Unboxing!)
Who doesn’t love pins these days? It seems like pins are all the rage with independent artists lately, and I’m not complaining! There’s no shortage of cute geeky pins available, but one of my personal favorite companies is Soul Piece Labs. I’ve purchased five pins from them now, and I figured it was high time I did a proper review!
February 2018 Community Game-Along: Dating Sim Games
February completely snuck up on me this year, and so did one of my favorite Community Game-Along themes! “Dating sims” is always a bit of a funny term to use, because it really refers to romance games with simulation elements, such as Angelique. But since it’s also often used interchangeably to mean any romantic/dating type game, I figure it’s a good umbrella term to encompass all the types of games I wanted to include in this theme.
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Coloring Book
Many years ago, I stumbled upon this Japanese Sailor Moon Sailor Stars coloring book by Seika – so long ago, in fact, that I don’t even remember where I got it! It’s been through some rough times, as it didn’t come with the stickers the cover says should be inside, and I managed to spill water on it at some point. Luckily, only the cover got really wet, and it’s not really noticeable!
Of course, there was no way I was ever going to actually color in this collector’s item. I’ve always been meaning to scan in the images so I could print them out and color to my heart’s content. Now that I’ve finally gotten around to it, I wanted to share those scans with all of you!
VNNovember and Michiru Yamane Month Double Roundup
Late last year, I decided to bring back the monthly Community Game-Along roundup posts after a suggestion from a reader. But with my trip to Japan at the end of November and the hectic holiday season, I completely dropped the ball on posting roundups for November and December‘s themes! I’d still like to highlight some of the great contributions and game selections from folks who participated, so I’ve decided to combine both months for today’s post. I’ll do my best to make sure I’m not this late again!
