Animal Crossing 2DS XL video review header

My latest video is a review of the gorgeous Animal Crossing: New Leaf 2DS XL that was just released in Australia, Europe, and Japan! I’d been looking to upgrade my Australian original model 3DS to a newer model, and I just could not pass up this adorable Animal Crossing design when it was announced. Watch the video below to hear my full impressions of the 2DS XL and how it compares to other 3DS models in my collection!

Community Game-Along Participation Roundup April-June

Community Game-Along Roundup April to June

Usually for the Chic Pixel Community Game-Alongs I try to dedicate one post to each event’s roundup, but due to a couple months being a little light on the participation sprinkled with a little of my own personal negligence, I’m combining three for this post in order to catch up before the massive JRPGJuly roundup in a couple of weeks! Today I’ll be sharing some highlights from everyone who participated in the following themes: musou games, Manami Matsumae, and rhythm games.

More Nitro+ Chiral and Luckydog1 BL English Releases Confirmed

This year’s Anime Expo has been especially exciting for BL (boys’ love) game fans. So far, there have been English localization announcements for not one, but five BL games! JAST Blue, JAST USA’s BL label, will be localizing Nitro+CHiRAL’s entire library, including their upcoming release Slow Damage. Meanwhile, MangaGamer has announced they will be localizing Luckydog1, a BL game about members of the mafia.

7 / 2 / 187 / 3 / 18

JRPGJuly 2018 Chic Pixel

Happy JRPGJuly! Every year for the past 4 years I’ve made July’s Community Game-Along theme JRPGs, and its quickly grown to be the most popular monthly event I run!

To participate, simply use the hashtag #JRPGJuly to post impressions of the JRPGs you’re playing, photos of your game collection, or anything else JRPG-related to be featured in the roundup post once the month’s theme is finished! I love to see all kinds of submissions, from blog posts, reviews, let’s plays, podcasts, or whatever else you can come up with, so don’t feel like you need to be limited to posting impressions on social media!

My Japanese Game Boy Advance Game Collection!

6 / 8 / 18

My latest video is a collection video I’ve been wanting to do for a while – my Game Boy Advance game collection! Japanese GBA game boxes have the most amazing designs and can be found relatively cheap, which is why I started collecting them a few years ago. I’ve been slowly amassing a collection over the years, and now I have nearly 20 titles that are mostly niche games not released outside of Japan! Check out my full collection video below:

PriPara All Idol Perfect Stage Review

5 / 10 / 18

PriPara All Idol Perfect Stage review Chic Pixel

PriPara is a girls idol fashion and rhythm game series that started as arcade machines back in 2014 and has been adapted into an anime, manga, and numerous games. I’ve always thought it was adorable, but I’ve never gotten into it… Until now! Thanks to my awesome Patreon supporters, I was able to purchase PriPara All Idol Perfect Stage for the Nintendo Switch to review. Since the Switch is region-free, it’s easy to import Japanese games to play, no matter where you live! Check out the video below for the first 20 minutes of gameplay:

Unboxing the Gorgeous The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Limited Edition Soundtrack

5 / 8 / 18

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Limited Edition Soundtrack

This video was published last Thursday (well, Friday if you live in my neck of the woods!), but I’m only getting around to writing a blog post about it now. Whoops! I’m getting in the swing of uploading a new video to my YouTube channel every Thursday evening EST, so please look forward to them!

How gorgeous is this The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild limited edition soundtrack?! The regular edition is awesome in its own right, but I really wanted to get my hands on the nifty little Playbutton MP3 player with cute Link pixel art. It has a selection of field music from all of the classic The Legend of Zelda games, and it’s a really cool little thing to be able to carry around in your pocket or pinned to your shirt or bag! (I probably wouldn’t pin it to my bag, though, for fear of it getting lost…)

I actually still haven’t beaten The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In fact, I only ever beat the guardian of the Zora area, despite the fact that I spent at least 50 hours with the game. I just loved exploring everything so much! I can easily see myself spending hundreds of hours in that world. Plus, there’s the DLC to go through, as well!

But since time keeps moving and I need to stay up to date with other new releases, I haven’t been able to carve out time to go back and finish Breath of the Wild. In the meantime, I can listen to the beautiful tunes even when I’m working with this soundtrack! If you’re a fan of the game and its music, this soundtrack is a must! At the time of this post, CDJapan still has copies of the limited edition with the Playbutton, as well as their exclusive bonus notebook (the regular edition comes with the notebook, too!).
