As we inch closer and closer to January 1st, 2020, everyone is not only reflecting on the last year, but the whole decade. Instead of rounding up my favorite games, anime, or other media, I thought now would be a great time to look at how my tastes and interests here at Chic Pixel have changed. After all, a lot can happen in 10 years!

Hobonichi Techo 2019 Haul Video
When September rolls around, it’s time for the next year of Hobonichi Techo covers to go on sale! This year I decided to get a new Earthbound cover after using my 2017 cover for 2 years, and I couldn’t resist picking up a few extra goodies from the Hobonichi online store while I was at it! Check out my unboxing video to see my full haul:
Tokyo Travel Journal Flip Through Video
I finally finished my Tokyo travel journal, and while I’ve had the flip through video up for a little while now, I wanted to share some of my favorite pages here and talk more about the process! If you haven’t watched the video yet, you can check it out below:
Chic Pixel’s Best of 2017
Oh, 2017! I don’t think I’m the only one who was ready for 2017 to be over come December 31st. At the same time, there were a couple of really great things that happened to me in 2017! In lieu of separate favorite games/anime/whatever of 2017 posts, I’ve decided to round up all my favorites into an all-encompassing Best of 2017 post. I’ll share my favorite media of the year, but also some personal milestones, favorite products, and blog posts. I know it’s a little late, but I hope you enjoy it all the same!
USA Travel Journal Flip Through Video
Over the past year, I’ve started sharing videos of how I decorate my Hobonichi Techo over on my Youtube channel! Have you watched any of them? I’m really enjoying journaling, and knowing I’m going to share my pages with you all keeps me motivated to continue with it!
Today’s video is related to this, but it’s not a Hobonichi Techo video. Rather, it’s a video of my travel journal! It’s much easier to take a small notebook than a large Hobonichi Techo when traveling, so I decided to try it out when I went to the USA to visit my family last month. Check out my video to see how I filled it out!
What do you think? I had so much fun making this journal that I’m going to bring it with me on my trip to Japan next week, too! It’s a great way to preserve memories and little trinkets such as ticket stubs that you pick up along the way. Why not try making a travel journal the next time you go on vacation?
Hobonichi Flip Through Catch-Up Video: May – August 2017
This year I started using the Hobonichi Techo planner for the first time, and to motivate myself to keep up with it I declared that I would post a video every month of my planner pages. There’s no better way to make yourself do something than to declare to the world that you’re doing it!
Well, once ~thesis crunch~ was in full swing, I found that I simply didn’t have the capacity to stick with my promise, and ended up missing a couple of months of Hobonichi Flip Through videos. But now that I’ve had time to catch up on some entries, I’m fulfilling my promise by resuming my Hobonichi videos!
Hobonichi Flip Through Video: April 2017
Each month I’ve been trying my best to upload a new Hobonichi Techo flip through, and even though I’ve fallen a little behind, I’ve finally posted my April video! If you like cute stationery, journaling, or just want to see how I fill out my daily Hobonichi Techo pages, please give it a watch!
I knew keeping up with daily journaling would get more and more difficult as I neared the end of my thesis, but what’s surprised me is that I do use it daily, I just don’t always have time to gussy up the pages. Writing down my daily tasks in my Hobonichi Techo the night before has totally become a part of my routine, and I always look forward to carving out some time (usually on weekends) to dedicate to cutting up cute pictures, adding stickers, or drawing on the pages!
If you’re looking for a form of stress relief that doesn’t involve staring at a screen (honestly, we could all use a little less screen time these days), I highly recommend trying out some kind of journaling! Hopefully I’ll have my May flip through ready to share sometime soon!
