Japan Envy: “MonQlo” Monster Hunter 4 x Uniqlo Apparel

I’m going to go out on a limb and say this recent influx of “Japan Envy” posts is somehow correlated to my upcoming trip to Japan in mid-June. Perhaps that’s because every time I see something to be envious about, I actually get to say to myself “Don’t worry, Anne, you’ll be able to buy/eat/do that in June!”… I’m not sure how healthy this mentality will be for my wallet or my suitcase! Well, I hope you all don’t mind a few more “Japan Envy” posts than normal while I’ve got Japan on the brain.

Today I was browsing Roy Blakely’s blog Kotowari (go check it out!), and I came across his recent post about the newly-announced Uniqlo Monster Hunter 4 shirts and boxer briefs. As a recently-converted Monster Hunter aficionado, there’s no way I could pass up the chance to get one (or more) of these fashionable designs:

I would kill for this shirt.

These are just a few of my favorite designs – there are a whopping 19 different shirts in total along with a bunch of different boxer brief designs, so definitely go check them out for yourself! Also, if you buy two or more shirts and/or briefs, you’ll get one of these t-shirt wearing Felyne keychains:

Adorable! The “MonQlo” series will be available at Uniqlo stores worldwide from May 31st. I hope they aren’t sold out by the time I go to Japan!

About Anne

Also known as apricotsushi. Anne can be written with the kanji for apricot (杏), and sushi was the most quintessentially Japanese thing I could think of when I was 13, resulting in my goofy, albeit memorable, nickname.

  1. Uniqlo had some Metal Gear Solid 25th Anniversary shirts last year. I picked up one for myself and sent one back to my brother. Only one or two of them were as tidy as these Monster Hunter shirts, the rest were all kinda messy. There aren’t any Uniqlo stores in Australia, are there? I’m from Adelaide and I know that we don’t have any there. I’m assuming there’s none in the other states either?

  2. Ha! I like that ‘Juicy Meat’ tee, too, Anne. I wonder if we have any Uniqlo stores here in the states–or even here in Seattle, specifically? I’ve never seen one, but that doesn’t mean much 😛 Also, I think I like those keychains even more than I like the shirts–especially the ones with the “MonQlo” logo on them.

  3. There’s a few Uniqlo stores in the U.S., but more importantly, they opened up their online website last year so even if there isn’t one near you, you can order their stuff online. In fact, they had some Monster Hunter stuff a few months ago, and they have a bunch of Metal Gear Rising tees at the moment. They’re constantly doing new tie-ins, so it’s worth subscribing to their email newsletter to keep up with what’s coming in.

It’s quite possible that these new MH items will show up on the U.S. online store soon, since it says it’s worldwide. Here’s hopin’!

  4. Unfortunately, no, I don’t think there are any Uniqlo stores in Australia! I’m very jealous of the folks in the US who at least have the NYC store.

As such, I’m looking very forward to being able to purchase some of the Monster Hunter shirts in Japan! I love all the different Uniqlo crossover merchandise campaigns.

  5. Well, Riven already answered your question about US stores, but I definitely agree that the keychains are pretty awesome, too! I’m pretty convinced I need to get one for myself, the only issue is deciding what my second t-shirt will be…

  6. I live in China and there are Uniqlo stores everywhere, well at least in Shanghai. I was pretty taken back by how utilitarian the whole store is. I might have to see if they have any of those Revengenance tees…

  7. Ha ha! I like the way you think, Anne. Personally, I like the striped shirt, too, although I wish it were v-neck or something like that. Anyway, I look forward to hearing which ones you *do* get!
