Chic Pixel is One Year Old!

Boy, how time flies! I’m not really keeping track, but I happened to notice just today that I’ve already passed the one year mark of blogging here at Chic Pixel! How about that?

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have ever taken the time to read my words. Better yet, if you’ve ever left a comment or (gasp!) actually come back to read more… Well, it really is you who keeps this little space going! If it weren’t for all of you, I probably would’ve thrown in the towel long ago (well, maybe not entirely, but this place would be pretty sad if I were here rambling to myself for a whole year).

Look who I met at a local convention this weekend! If it weren’t for
Sailor Moon, this blog probably wouldn’t exist!

I’d like to take this opportunity to get some feedback from you, readers. Are there certain types of posts of mine you enjoy more than others? Games or anime/manga (though I’m already pretty skewed in one direction there…)? Japan Envy? Anything you’d like to see me tackle this year that I haven’t written about yet? If you’d feel more comfortable dropping me an email rather than commenting here, you can do so at apricotsushi(at)gmail(dot)com.

As for personal goals, I hope to write much more frequently this year. I’m going to strive to do 3 posts a week, and hopefully work my way up to a whole 5 a week, with some perhaps being short “round-up” posts of things I’m currently interested in or news that I find particularly exciting.
Your feedback is very much appreciated – I will most certainly take it into consideration when planning my posts in the upcoming months!

About Anne

Also known as apricotsushi. Anne can be written with the kanji for apricot (杏), and sushi was the most quintessentially Japanese thing I could think of when I was 13, resulting in my goofy, albeit memorable, nickname.

  1. I suppose what I’d like to see continue is how you always seem to write inclusively, Anne. At the end of your posts there’s usually a “what do you think?” either stated or simply suggested. Chic Pixel feels like a open and friendly place.

To be less obtuse, I like when you take photos of things and take us through stuff. It’s as if we’re going on an adventure with you through content unknown… or at least content I’m not entirely familiar with. I enjoy the “travel writing” aspect of your writing.

Yep, yep. Happy birthday Chic Pixel! Soon you’ll be up on your own feet and walking and talking just like a real baby!

  2. A very hearty congrats to you, Anne! I can’t believe it’s only been a year. I say that because it seems like I’ve been coming here — and enjoying your posts — for much longer than that.

As for suggestions, I say keep doing what you’re doing. I come here and I enjoy your blog because you write about things that interest and excite you. So, that’s all I really want from you in the future.

I agree with Alois’ first comment, by the way–I, too, love that your posts always are so inclusive.

One thing I’ll admit to wanting more of: Your Japan Envy posts. Like you, I’m a total nut for all things Japan, so I’m always up for more of those posts.

Like I said earlier, though, I really want you to write about whatever interests you at the moment, so don’t feel the need to change for me or for anyone else. Also, write as often as you can and want, I say. Don’t worry about having to publish posts three or five times a week–just publish them when you can.

Congrats again, and all the best to you!

  3. Alois – I’m so glad this place gives a friendly vibe; that’s something I really strive to do! I always want everyone to feel welcome and that their comments and opinions are appreciated.

Ok, more pictures it is! I have all sorts of goodies I can give you a “digital tour” of.

I honestly can hardly believe Chic Pixel is 1 already! My baby’s growing up so fast :’)

  4. Bryan – Thank you so much for your comments and support! Your blog has been a great inspiration to me – I hope I don’t ever come off as copying you too much 😉

I did kind of figure you’d mention Japan Envy! I love writing those myself, and it’s nice to know there’s someone out there who will most likely be drooling over the same wacky Japanese stuff as I am!

Thanks again, for sticking around and putting up with my many blog-related questions. I know your blog has become part of my daily routine, so I can totally understand that it seems like we’ve known each other longer than a year 🙂
