New Video: Tasting Banana Minion Cheetos

8 / 13 / 16

I’ve finally managed to record and edit a new episode of Apricotsushi Samples! These are my favorite videos to do, but they’re also the most time-consuming, and they’re super extra time-consuming now that I have a puppy in the mix. But if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em, so I decided to embrace my nosey puppy and include her in the video! Unfortunately the quality is a bit wonkier than normal, but Pai Pai was just too adorable for me to scrap this one.

As for the Minion banana Cheetos themselves, they were surprisingly tasty! It makes a lot more sense for them to have gone the sweet route, but that doesn’t really make them seem much like Cheetos… Well, at least they were better than the Mountain Dew Cheetos!

Let me know if you enjoyed seeing Pai Pai in this video! I can definitely include her in the future… In fact, she might not give me a choice!

New Video: Opening Pokékyun Collection Cards

6 / 17 / 16

YouTube is still one of those things that greatly confuses me. For example, do you say you’re “unboxing” Pokékyun cards, or “opening” Pokékyun cards? I lie awake at night wondering what to title my videos. They also take terribly long to film and edit, which is why this is my first new video in a month! I definitely need to work on that…

But enough silliness! This is a very serious post about my latest video, where I open (unbox??) a bunch of Pokémon cards. Specifically, they’re from a set called Pokékyun Collection, which has to be the most adorable series of Pokémon cards ever created! I bet you don’t believe me, so just watch and see for yourself:

If you’re interested in grabbing a box of these adorable cards, Amazon Japan has a few left in stock. They don’t ship overseas, so I used Tenso to forward them to me in Australia. If you’d like to learn more about Tenso, I have a post all about it! Just be careful, once you start using it, it quickly becomes very dangerous…

New Video: Sweet Potato Candy Tasting

2 / 3 / 16

For the first Apricotsushi Samples of 2016, I’m trying a flavor of sweets I’ve never had before… Sweet potato! Unfortunately I originally recorded this as a Christmas special (complete with festive outfit!), but a dead camera battery meant I didn’t actually end up recording as much footage as I thought I had. Needless to say, I had to do it over. But I’m not complaining – that just meant I got to try them all again!

I will say that after trying a few more of the Kit Kats and comparing them with the original pudding bakeable Kit Kats, I can make out the more “earthy” flavor of the sweet potato. It’s still very subtle, but I think I like the fact they’re not as sweet as pudding ones. If you want to try sweet potato Kit Kats for yourself, you can purchase a bag at Jlist!

I have a lot more candy where this came from, so expect many more episodes of Apricotsushi Samples in the upcoming months!

Bario X Monster Hunter Nendoroid Unboxing Video

1 / 20 / 16

A photo posted by Anne Lee (@apricotsushi) on Jan 18, 2016 at 2:49pm PST

If you’re a Monster Hunter fan, you’re going to want to check out my latest video where I unbox this awesome female hunter Nendoroid! She’s wearing the Bario X armor set and comes with a sword and shield and one alternate face. It’s one of the oldest Nendoroids I own, and you’ll see in the video that the parts aren’t the easiest to work with…

I even took her out to the park this week for some photos! I’m really happy with how the photo at the beginning of this turned out. It reminds me that I should branch out of my comfort zone more often and take photos with all the figures I buy! If you own any figures, do you enjoy photographing them? I’m always looking for more tips!

Unboxing Sailor Moon Café Sweets and Rilakkuma Totte Oki Gift Re-Ments

12 / 8 / 15

It’s been a little over a month since I last posted a video, but I’m back with a vengeance! Today I’m unboxing two random blind Re-Ment boxes I purchased a few weeks ago: one from the Sailor Moon Café Sweets Collection and another from the Rilakkuma Totte Oki Gift series. I just love the anticipation that comes with not knowing what will be inside! I won’t spoil it, so watch the unboxing to see what I got:

To be honest, now I’m not sure what to do with them! If you like miniatures, how do you use them? Right now I’ve just got mine displaying on a shelf. They could also be good for props in figure photos… Well, for the time being, I’m happy just to look at them!

New Video: Tasting Cheese… Sweets?!

11 / 11 / 15

It’s been ages since I’ve done an Apricotsushi Samples video, but now I’m back in the saddle! I have a huge pile of candy looming in the corner that has yet to be tasted, and I’d love to make a dent in it before my upcoming move… So expect many more where this came from!

In today’s video, I’m tasting two Japanese sweets featuring cheese: cheese Country Ma’am cookies and white chocolate cheese mochi. Are they delicious? Disgusting? Find out in the latest Apricotsushi Samples:

Now my question for you: have you ever had any cheese-flavored candy? Aside from dessert cheese platters and cheesecake, I can’t really think of any other examples! Let me know if you’ve come across any in the comments!

Apricotsushi Unboxes: Rin Matsuoka by Altair

10 / 15 / 1510 / 17 / 15

As a rule, I try not to buy many scale figures (talk about expensive!), but after I saw Altair’s Rin Matsuoka sculpt, there was no way I could resist. I preordered him in a heartbeat and pined away many months until he finally arrived on my doorstep late in September.

Of course, a new scale figure calls for a new unboxing video! I try to show off all the details in my latest video, so if you’re interested in this figure, I highly encourage you to give it a watch:

Unfortunately, it seems like there is an ongoing problem with this particular figure, which I only found out after browsing user comments at My Figure Collection. Multiple people have reported that there is a small, yet noticeable, gap between one of Rin’s feet and his swimsuit. Low and behold… Mine has it too! I probably wouldn’t have noticed this if I hadn’t seen complaints from others, which may be a cautionary tale in not reading comments, but it also goes to show that I don’t inspect my figures with the true eye of a collector. Luckily it’s not a particularly glaring flaw, but it’s likely the reason why Rin is still available for sale, despite the other Free! Haruka and Makoto figures selling out so quickly they needed re-releases.

Regardless, I’m still very happy! Would a flaw like this ruin your appreciation of a figure?
