Happy April! I hope you had a lovely Easter weekend if you celebrate, and don’t forget to grab some of that sweet discounted Easter candy this week even if you didn’t! Now that the annual Monster Hunter Community Game-Along is behind us, it’s time for a brand-new Community Game-Along theme… Musou Games! Musou, or Warriors, games are hack and slash action titles developed by Omega Force and Koei/Koei Tecmo, starting with Dynasty Warriors back in 1997. Now, there are more Musou spinoffs than you can shake a stick at!
This interview originally appeared on GayGamer.net in June 2015. Interview questions and introductory text are by Rowan (@link6616), and I assisted with liaising with the Fantastic Boyfriends director in Japanese, which included translating Rowan’s questions into Japanese, and translating the director’s answers into English. (Full disclosure: I also translated prologue chapter of the game and Indiegogo promotional materials). I’m republishing this interview here with Rowan’s permission so it can remain available as an important discussion with an indie Japanese game developer on LGBTQ topics. Please note that I have an ongoing relationship with the developer, but I’m not able to answer any questions on their behalf. Enjoy!

Though we’re in the midst of the Monster Hunter Community Game-Along (don’t forget to join me for one of my Monster Hunter: World multiplayer sessions!), it’s time to take a look at all the awesome games people played for February’s Dating Sim Community Game-Along! I was really thrilled to see so many folks participate one of my favorite themes. Feel free to use this post as inspiration for selecting your next dating sim game to play!
Wonder Festival is an amazing bi-yearly event for fans of Japanese figures, and this year’s winter Wonder Festival was no different! Just like last year, I wanted to round up some of my favorite announcements from the event. For the full rundown of all of the announcements from all the major companies, I highly recommend checking out Plastikitty’s Wonder Festival 2018 Winter coverage. Now, on to my own personal highlights!
March means something very special at Chic Pixel… It’s time for the Monster Hunter Community Game-Along! Even though Monster Hunter has gotten pretty mainstream, especially with the release of Monster Hunter: World, there’s no denying that the series has some notoriety for its complicated systems and lack of in-game explanations. I started the Monster Hunter Community Game-Along to highlight the Monster Hunter series and the wide range of games that emulate the Monster Hunter style in hopes that I could encourage more people to play what has become one of my favorite series.
Apologies for yet another delayed roundup post… I’ll get in the groove eventually! I was prepared for January’s Fighting Game Community Game-Along to be very quiet, partially due to the theme, and partially due to the time of year. But I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of people participate this year! Check out what what fighting games people played for some game recommendations, fun photos, and gameplay videos!
