Japan Envy: Otomate Garden Amnesia Café

9 / 25 / 15

Otomate Garden Amnesia cafe

I’m a bit late to this one because I totally missed that Otomate now has their own café! Otomate Garden, the official café for all Otomate otome game collaborations, apparently opened earlier this year in Ikebukuro last month and I completely missed the announcement. Well, it just so happens that the café’s theme for the month of September is Amnesia!

Better known as Amnesia: Memories in English, this café theme comes at a great time since the English version just came out at the end of August… Though most of us appreciating the English version of the game will sadly never have the chance to attend the café in person! At least we can drool over the menu and merchandise…

Japan Envy: Dohton Bori x Show By Rock!!

9 / 19 / 159 / 19 / 15

showbyrock_bori1

Let me tell you, I can’t get enough Show By Rock!!. I wrote about one Show By Rock!! café collaboration earlier this year, but this time around, the adorable app/anime series is teaming up with an entirely different venue: Dohton Bori. The okonomiyaki chain will be offering an exclusive Show By Rock!! menu through November 8th, and they’ve even decked out the members of Plasmagica and Shingancrimsonz in appropriate attire. The menu doesn’t look too shabby, either:

Japan Envy: Danganronpa Cakes from Patisserie Swallowtail

9 / 3 / 159 / 3 / 15

danganronpasweets1

Why look at that, Japan is celebrating Ultra Despair Month, too! Well not really, but it’s a great coincidence that Patisserie Swallowtail is offering two rad Danganronpa-inspired cakes during the month of September. The sweets shop, which specializes in collaboration items for anime, manga, and game series popular with women, is located in Shibuya Marui on the 8th floor. If you happen to be in the area between September 9th to the 23rd, here’s what you could pick up:

danganronpasweets3

The Monokuma cake is ¥750 (about $7) and contains white chocolate mousse and raspberry jelly. Yum!

danganronpasweets2

The Monomi cake is also ¥750 and contains cream cheese mousse and passion cream.

Every cake purchase comes with a limited edition Danganronpa coaster:

Usually collaboration drinks are what come with coasters, but I certainly wouldn’t complain if I got one of those neat designs! Of course, which coaster you’re given when you order is random, but I’d have my eye on the Nagito or square Monomi one.

If you’re like me and have no hope of ever making it to Japan in time for this awesome collaboration, you can follow Patisserie Swallowtail on Twitter and drool over all of their various adorable creations there.

Japan Envy: Pikachu Nebukuro Collection

8 / 8 / 158 / 8 / 15

Pikachu Nebukuro Collection 1

Banpresto has just announced their latest Pokémon Ichiban Kuji, and if you can’t tell already, this one’s a real doozy. The series is titled Pikachu Nebukuro (sleeping bag) Collection, and features pikachus in a variety of Pokémon-inspired sleeping bags. As if it weren’t cute enough, the website even opens with an adorable short story that shows how the pikachus ended up with such an adorable sleeping arrangement!  Read More

Japan Envy: Show By Rock!! Café

7 / 23 / 157 / 23 / 15

Show By Rock Cafe ShinganCrimsonZ

If there’s anything I love more than a good themed café, it’s a good themed café of a property I’m really into! I literally just spoke of my newfound love for Show By Rock!! in the last episode of Chic Pixel Plus, so this café announcement would be perfect timing… if I lived in Japan. But alas, I do not, so once again I am reduced to swooning over all of the awesome creations concocted for this exciting new café. Care to join me?

Japan Envy: Pokémon Time Eevee Collection

5 / 26 / 15

eeveepokemontime5

Who doesn’t love Eevee? The iconic first generation Pokémon has a whopping eight different evolutions, each as adorable as the next. There certainly isn’t a lack of Eevee-related merchandise, but the Pokémon Time’s latest collection is going to capitalize on that cuteness even more in its newest line, the Eievui Collection! Wait… Eievui? You can chalk that up to a weird attempt to romanize the Japanese name, but for sanity’s sake, I’ll be sticking to Eevee. However you spell it, it’s too cute to resist!

Pokemon Time Eevee Collection Room

The collection launches on June 6th in Pokémon Centers in Japan, with an exclusive tote bag to commemorate the launch available to those who spend over ¥10,000 (about $100) on any items in a Pokémon Center from June 6th through the 14th.

I absolutely love the above photo, which shows how Eevee Collection items can be integrated into your daily life. While the items themselves are not very easy to spot, there are a number of t-shirts, a blanket, and even a backpack featured! Sometimes it’s nice to own nerdy merch that isn’t so in-your-face, wouldn’t you agree?

eeveepokemontimefashion

Here’s another way they’re advertising the items, this time focusing on fashion. I absolutely love the way the products are integrated into the Sylveon girl’s outfit! Let’s take a close look at the merchandise, though, shall we?

Japan Envy: BlazBlue Pasela Café

5 / 13 / 155 / 13 / 15

blazbluecafe1

Pasela Resorts is teaming up with Arc System Works once again, this time to offer a BlazBlue-themed café in Akihabara in honor of Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma Extend! I didn’t get the chance to cover their previous Guilty Gear collaboration, but this time I’m not going to miss out on a chance to drool over some cool video game-inspired food and drink.

The misunderstanding about what doujin(shi) is makes me sad. Doujin basically means indie (the “shi” is for books/zines/comics). Not all of it is porn or even based off of existing series.

There’s an entire event in Japan where people sell their original doujin works!
